Hobbies
Here's what happens when I experience what's known as "free time."
I LOVE WOOD*
I do a lot of woodcarving/whittling, which is like woodworking, except I can do it from my couch!
A breakdown of the best places to carve:
- Yes: Your couch
- Yes: Your friend's couch
- Yes: Your favorite nature spot
- Yes: At your WFH desk (shhh)
- Yes: At a park, on a secluded bench
- No: At a park, with children running amok flailing children are drawn to the knives
- No: On a plane idk what the big deal is
I mostly carve spoons, but I've been known to crank out a bird or dolphin here and there. These are the spoons I'm proudest of.
No sandpaper allowed. I carve every spoon with only knives, because it's fun to do, feels nice, looks nice, and I love bragging. After knifework, I burnish (polish) it with the smoothest beach rock I could find in Pismo, which leaves a shiny, polished surface. Then I seal it with oil.
My favorite part is the feeling, the sound, the beauty of a sharp knife taking off a clean, curly shaving. It never gets old. Wood <3
Quick Draw
Quick Draw is an iPhone app for Speed and Nerts, two racing card games with no turns: everyone plays at once, live against friends or against bots.
My sister and I grew up playing Speed and Nerts, and I built Quick Draw so we could keep playing together. The app is dedicated to her.
My plan is to keep adding games dedicated to friends and family. The whole point is to bring people together through the classic games they love. Also to beat my sister.

TV
I'm not sure if TV counts as a hobby, but I'm counting it. You know that friend who's seen everything and gives way too many recommendations? That's me. I'm sorry! They just keep making it!! It's not my fault!!!

Tennis
I was a tennis jock in high school. Now I wear special orthotics in my tennis shoes.
